Cabin Leader-In-Training Program
Objective
The program will give teenage girls, especially Acteens, an opportunity to participate in the operation of the GA camp. It will also
introduce them to leadership techniques and responsibilities.
Purpose
- To prepare the CIT as a future camp cabin leader.
- To present a basic philosophy of camping and guidance.
- To make the CIT aware of the aims and purposes of camping.
- To equip the CIT with skills and techniques of missions.
- To equip the CIT with essential skills associated with camping.
- To give the CIT teaching experience in many of the skills acquired.
The Cabin Leader-in-Training is under the direct supervision of the Camp Director.
The CIT’s room and board will be provided by Woman’s Missionary Union of Mississippi.
Qualifications
- A CIT must be 16-18 years of age.
- A CIT must agree to serve for an entire week of camp.
- A CIT must be an active member of Acteens, a Youth on Mission group, or the Youth group in their church.
Responsibilities
The CIT will live in a cabin with other CITs, but she will be assigned to work with a particular cabin. She will be a vital part of her
cabin family as she assists with activities and program. CITs also have responsibilities carrying out the day to day needs of camp (set up
for special events, preparing snacks, working the camp store and trading post, etc.)
The CIT’s position is unique since she is a student as well as an assistant member of the camp staff. It is essential that the CIT set an
example to the campers in respecting the existing camp policies.
