Conference Ministries Study Committee
On August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina struck the Mississippi Gulf Coast and spread unprecedented devastation throughout the state. The
Mississippi Baptist Convention Board (MBCB) immediately committed to rebuilding churches and lives across Mississippi.
One location that experienced Katrina’s full fury is Henderson Point in Pass Christian, longtime site of Gulfshore Baptist Assembly. As a
result of this damage, the 2005 President of the Mississippi Baptist Convention, Dr. Gene Henderson, appointed a nine-member MBCB Conference
Ministries Study Committee to study the condition of Gulfshore Assembly and to explore all possibilities related to our conference
ministries in Mississippi. Larry Otis, former Mayor of Tupelo, is serving as committee chairman.
