State Literacy Missions & Christian Job Corps Conference

The State Literacy Missions & Christian Job Corps Conference will take place July 27-29, 2023, at GARAYWA Camp & Conference Center in Clinton.  Our theme this year is Window to the World.  Our theme verse is from John 4:35b, “Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest.”  As ministry volunteers, we know this is true.  Only 38.5% of Mississippians say that they have a personal relationship with Christ.  Join us this summer as we learn new skills and seek to improve the skills we have as we reach into our communities to meet needs and share the Gospel.

New volunteers who would like to be trained in the areas of Adult Reading and Writing (ARW), English as a Second Language (ESL), or Tutoring Children and Youth (TCY) can receive their basic training at this conference.  The basic training workshop is 11 hours and is taught over the three days we are at GARAYWA.  Additional general sessions will be offered for those who have gone through the basic workshop and are working in literacy missions ministries.  The general sessions are also designed for those in your church who have an interest in literacy missions and would like to learn more.  Please see the second page of the SLMC Registration Form attachment for a list of sessions that will be offered.
