Mt. Carmel Baptist Church is supposedly the oldest church in the Leake County Baptist Association. It was founded in 1827 and has seen many changes in locations, buildings and associations. The current church building is located at 182 Mars Hill Road in the Edinburg Community, it was built by members in approximately 1980 and has had several additions constructed in the past 30 years. We are a Bible based faith congregation that has seen several declines since Covid. Our congregation consists of mid to elderly members. We are located in an area with lots of potential attendees. Our membership is greater than our current attendance.
The Church is financially sound. We will provide a parsonage (3-bedroom, 2-bath brick home with study) and utilities as part of the compensation for the position. We are prayerfully seeking God’s direction in finding the pastor to lead our congregation in this new year. The duties of the pastor would are to be responsible for the Spiritual Growth of the church, Outreach and Witness to members as well as the community, visitation and counseling as needed, work with Committees, Deacons and staff; also perform weddings and funerals as requested.
